International Women’s Day – Honoring Women in the Mix

Happy International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month! We’re thrilled to join the celebration of honoring and uplifting women that make an indelible impact in our community. However, our responsibility to empower and support women in music shines year-round. Last fall, the Recording Academy partnered with Arizona State University and Berklee  College of  Music Institute  for  Creative Entrepreneurship to launch the Women In The Mix study, with the goals of examining and better understanding the experiences and socio-economic landscape of women and gender-expansive individuals working in the American music industry. We have the honor of sharing the results of the study with you all and our greater industry. Throughout our research, we listened and learned from 1,600 women and gender-expansive respondents across genres, ages, races, ethnicities, and careers to help craft tangible solutions that powerfully move our industry and organization forward. Participants also provided generous recommendations and insights on how we can best come together to cultivate a stronger culture of inclusion. As a Recording Academy, we’re grateful for the transparency exhibited during the research process and are committed to investing in solutions that foster an equitable industry for women and all people. You can learn more about how we are taking action to address the results and recommendations of the study at RecordingAcademy.com/WomenValeisha Butterfield-Jones (Co-President, Recording Academy) personally invites everyone to review the Women In the Mix study and join the conversation online using your personal social media platforms. Let’s turn up the volume and amplify women’s voices. #AmplifyWomen
